WAVTEQ opens new central London office to support its expanding UK business

WAVTEQ helps Louisiana secure 1.12 billion investment from a major Chinese chemical manufacturer that will create 1,115 new jobs

Working closely with Louisiana Economic Development (LED), WAVTEQ helped secure an investment from China-based Wanhua Chemical Group. The firm will establish a major chemical manufacturing complex with an investment of $1.12 billion. The project will create 170 new direct jobs and 945 indirect jobs with an annual salary average of $70,440 plus benefits.


WAVTEQ facilitated site visits to the USA for LED and coordinated closely with Wanhua Chemicals HQ in China to secure the decision to invest in Louisiana.

WAVTEQ establishes its first US office in Phoenix, Arizona

Ireland-based WAVTEQ Limited has announced the establishment of WAVTEQ Inc. and its first office in the US. The US office is located in Phoenix, Arizona and will provide WAVTEQ's inward investment and corporate location data and consulting services in the US market.

The new office is part of WAVTEQ's rapid international expansion, with WAVTEQ India and WAVTEQ Korea established in 2016 and WAVTEQ UK established in 2015.

Mary Hebert has taken up the position of Senior Vice President of Strategy and Partnerships and will lead WAVTEQ's new US operation. Mary will be responsible for introducing its IncentivesMonitor product to major US companies and location advisors and for working with economic development organizations to assist them in attracting inward investment, leveraging WAVTEQ's global FDI business development teams and it's portfolio of investment attraction tools, including FDI Professionals and FDI Accounting.

Previously, Mary has served as Vice President of Business Development for the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) where she oversaw the organization's international strategy for several years before leading its efforts to attract technology companies to the region. Boeing vs Airbus: How much incentives are being awarded to aerospace companies?

The WTO ruling that the EU has failed to eliminate billions of dollars in illegal aid to Airbus brings into the spotlight again the extent to which governments will support national champions.

Governments are not only providing state aid but are also awarding large incentives packages to lure job-creating inward investment projects tracks the incentives awarded to specific inward investment projects (not general state aid packages), and has tracked $16 billion of incentives awarded to aerospace companies.

WAVTEQ and fDi Intelligence Workshop for Attracting FDI to Brazil

On October 22-23 WAVTEQ and fDi Intelligence ran a two day workshop in Brasilia in collaboration with the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, The Brazilian Investment Information Network, and the National Confederation of Industry.

The workshop was attended by almost 100 government officials from Federal and State level economic development organizations in Brazil. The workshop covered topics including: FDI trends; competitive position of Brazil; best practices in lead generation, aftercare and account management; incentives trends and policies; and monitoring and evaluating performance in attracting FDI.

WAVTEQ helps secure 300 person Chinese automotive operation to UK

Changan plans to create 300 R&D jobs at Birmingham Business Park after signing a lease for 25,000 sq ft of office space. WAVTEQ worked with Marketing Birmingham to secure the investment, identifying the investment opportunity in 2013 and supporting both a delegation from Birmingham to visit Changan in China and a site visit of the company to Birmingham. Changan has nearly 50,000 employees worldwide and produced 2.54 million vehicles in 2014.

WAVTEQ established music tech start-up EVEARA

WAVTEQ co-founded EVEARA Limited in Cork, Ireland in May 2015. EVEARA is a music tech start-up which develops digital distribution software. The software empowers music producers to distribute their music through all main services worldwide.

The first round of angel investment has valued the business at over $1 million. WAVTEQ has led R&D of the software and will continue throughout 2015 to support EVEARA with software development.

WAVTEQ helps facilitate the 4 Michelin Star "Chef Demon" and "MasterChef" restaurant opening in Toronto

Working closely with the Ontario Investment and Trade Centre of the Ministry of Economic Development, Employment & Infrastructure, WAVTEQ China supported the establishment of "R&D" (Rebel and Demon) restaurant in downtown Toronto in 2015.

The new operation will employ 30-40 staff and will also source products locally, providing a strong boost to the local food & drink sector.

Daniel has joined WAVTEQ as Senior Vice President of Business Development and is responsible for leading our partnership activities with global IPAs.

Daniel brings with him, from his previous role as Sales Director at OCO, multi-sector experience working with international corporate and government clients. Across an eleven year career Daniel has developed key experience in inward investment and export market development; working directly with +20 City authorities and specialises in assisting urban locations to define and align their value proposition with internationally mobile investor requirements.

As a UK-based investment promotion professional Daniel has experience advising more than 50 IPA's and worked in +20 countries. WAVTEQ India & MEDEI Ontario support Delhi-based Zomato in first foray into North American market

WAVTEQ India, representing the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure to promote the Canadian state has secured a $10m investment from Delhi-based online restaurant search firm, Zomato.

The company has launched in Toronto with plans to create 50 jobs within the next 12 months. From here, Zomato will use the city as a base to expand further across North America, with Vancouver, Montreal, Ottawa, and Calgary being top of its list. Zomato is already available for 270,000 restaurants across 17 countries and 100 cities around the world.

Chris Fraser, OBE appointed as Director, Asia Pacific

image of Chris Fraser Chris has over 30 years of experience in the FDI industry. He has led teams attracting over $10 billion of FDI creating over 40,000 jobs for his economic development clients. Chris was formerly Director of Asia Pacific for the Invest in Britain Bureau, Senior Adviser (China) at UK Trade and Investment and Director of International Operations at the North East England Development Agency. Chris received an OBE Honour for services to FDI into UK.

WAVTEQ helps secure largest ever Chinese investment in USA

Louisiana Economic Development worked with WAVTEQ to secure the investment of Yuhuang Chemical in St. James Parish, Louisiana. The company will establish a $1.85bn world-scale methanol manufacturing complex creating 400 new jobs on a 1100 acre site. The methanol will be shipped to China and North American customers. WAVTEQ China organized and attended meetings with Yuhang and a senior delegation from Louisiana.

Sanchia Kirkpatrick joins WAVTEQ to run EMEA lead generation operations

Sanchia has joined WAVTEQ as Senior Manager responsible for running our lead generation activities in the UK market and EMEA.

Sanchia joins WAVTEQ from PA Consulting where she was most recently seconded into UKTI's Strategic Institutional Investment & Infrastructure team. In this role Sanchia managed UKTI's relationship with sovereign wealth funds and corporates from the Gulf, handling inward investment projects worth upwards of £2bn. During her time at UKTI, Sanchia was also involved in setting up a new private sector-led overseas investment team; ran work streams for key stakeholder events at both the London 2012 Olympics and the UK's Presidency of the G8; and was part of a new team tasked with building commercial partnerships with UK intermediaries.

Before joining PA Consulting, Sanchia was Head of Production for fDi Markets (Financial Times) and also was involved in the production of ICA Incentives.

WAVTEQ presents at UNESCAP conference in Thailand

Dr Henry Loewendahl presented at the UNESCAP Regional Network Meeting on FDI in LDCs, Landlocked Economies, and Countries with Economies in Transition in Asia and Pacific. Dr Henry Loewendahl gave a presentation on 'FDI trends, opportunities, and implications' and was lead commentator on a session on Best Practices in Investment Promotion. WAVTEQ successfully prospected over 60 German companies to identify FDI opportunities for a Sub-Saharan African country. Ten companies with confirmed FDI interest were identified with contestable projects worth over $30 million.
